Education and Healthcare

Yesterday I heard our President Obama speak to the people and congress about the economy, education, bi-partisan unity, and health care. What caught my ear was education and health care. These two subjects I think have the greatest impact on the economy and the everything else surrounding the government and countries issues.

First, education, we live now in a country that has become one of the less educated in the world. Our hold and grasp on us being the best in mathematics, physics, science, and even technology has gone foreign. Most of us have become un-cultured and un-informed that foreigners know more about our government and it's process then any American high school graduate.
Then we have our schools being ill prepared to educate our student and not only that, but then they pass you on to a college or university still un-prepared and without resource to actually pay for a higher learning. If we do find a way of paying for it, it is with such a debt that for years your still paying off that education. So in fact its a deadly cycle, you have four years of education and then pay back that education in the next 20 years.

Second, Health care, a reformation of this system in the government has begun. Children are now insured if your parents work full time (Insure Kids Now!). That is a huge stepping stone for a new way of providing for the people, for a government that works for the people. Yet we still have million of Americans that are un-insured and now resort to lying and cheating to see a doctor or to get a check up.
Every time I bring up Universal Health care with anyone that is opposed to it I get this answer "Government should not be running our Health care system, it should be the doctors and experts in those fields that should be running it." Here's an answer to that, are doctors running the health care system, are they laying out the plans for us to have high co-pay and run our bill for simple check ups? There running up the bill on our prescriptions?
It's sounding to me like Doctors have become the new car mechanics, checking things you dont need and trying to give you things you usually don't need. Also has anyone gave the thought that doctors are also business men, first of all they need to pay off the massive loans that they got to be a doctor. Then they have to furnish themselves and spoil themselves for all those years of poverty and hours of studying to become such great mechanics of the human body. So I dont blame them when green is flashed in there eyes.
So "Government running our Health care system", I've always been thought that the government was for the people by the people. We elect our representatives to look out for us, are we afraid of the people that we elect to look out for us? Did we not elect the right representatives? We have elections, we choose people that speak for us. We are the Government. So why should we not run our Health care system. If it's a service that benefits us, shouldn't we have the right to control and have a say in that service. Please respond to this because as much as I try to see the fault in Universal Health care. . . . . I can't!

  5. I agree with you that the government should provide health care for people that can't afford it but it also raises the question on the quality this service will provide to its patients.

  6. and the question i will raise next from the one above is, What kind of quality are we getting now? 12 hour emergency wait, a overused nursing staff, then we get heart attacks after hospital visits (have you ever seen a medical bill)
